THE team at Tong Garden Centre have delighted a young fan by recycling redundant signage as the seasons change.

Nine-year-old Summer Young from Farsley was thrilled to see signs bearing her name when she visited the Tong Lane site to buy a hamster.

She posed for a photo and expressed excitement at having a poster to hang in her bedroom.

Summer's mum, Cheryl, sent a copy of the photo with an e-mail to the centre and asked whether there was any possibility that Summer might have a poster once they were no longer needed. The marketing team were happy to oblige and presented Summer with her poster last week.

Marketing manager Jo Dales said: "Here at Tong, we pride ourselves on our green initiatives that include solar panels, recycling cooking oil back into fuel and using water from our lake to water the plants, but this is the nicest recycling project that we've ever been involved with!"

Of the donation, a grateful Cheryl Young said: "Thank you so much for making Summer's dream come true. Her face lit up when she first saw the poster and now she will be able to hang it in her bedroom - she's over the moon."
