POLICE are appealing for information and urging residents to be vigilant after a 92-year-old man was forcefully moved by a bogus caller in his home.

Bradford CID are advising residents to be on their guard following a report of an elderly resident being targeted by a bogus caller, pretending to be a council employee yesterday at about 3.30pm.

The incident happened at Kipling Court, Greengates, after a male made his way into the victim’s property and forcefully moved the victim, a 92-year-old man, before making off with a small quantity of cash.

The victim suffered a minor injury to his arm and has been left shaken.

Detective Inspector Mark Taylor, of Bradford CID, said: “I would always remind residents that they are under no obligation to let people they don’t know into their home, regardless of their occupation.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident and we have extra patrols in the area to reassure local residents.

“This was a despicable incident involving a vulnerable man, and thankfully he wasn’t more seriously injured.

“I would appeal for anyone with information on this incident to contact police on 101 quoting crime reference 13180459147. I would also ask for anyone who is aware of bogus callers operating in their community to contact officers.”

Information can also be passed to West Yorkshire Police via the online chat facility or anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
