THERE will be no Northern trains at Bradford Forster Square today due to the fourth successive Saturday of strike action.
Members of the RMT union are walking out over a dispute around the removal of guards from Northern trains, which they claim puts passenger safety at risk.
It is the fourth Saturday in-a-row RMT members have walked out, with two more strikes planned on the next two Saturdays.
The closure will impact fans travelling from the Aire Valley into Bradford, who will need to plan for alternative transport, especially as Bradford City are at home to Charlton Athletic, so fans who use the train to get to games will need to plan ahead.
A spokesperson for Northern said: “Due to RMT’s strike action, we will be running a significantly reduced service on Saturday.
“Northern is asking customers to check before they travel and consider alternative travel options. We are sorry for any disruption caused.
We have urged the RMT to suspend the remaining planned strikes.
“With ACAS mediated talks agreed, ongoing strikes only disrupt customers, over a number of particularly busy weekends in the North.”
