WE have previously featured pictures of Carleton Pantomimes from the 1930s which featured specially written scripts by Marjorie Taylor - and this week’s is another, this time from 1955.
It was submitted by Marjorie’s daughter Christine Smith, nee Taylor, who is orginally from Carleton but who now lives in Macclesfield, Cheshire. She is one of the young ladies smiling for the camera on the photograph - and Christine recalls almost all the names.
Pictured are, from left, back row: Barbara Hart, Christine Taylor, Christine Shaw, Elaine Schofield, Jane ?, Jennifer Wharton, Valerie Wharton, Margaret Thornton, Ruth Preston. Front row: Dorothy Smith, ? Bell, Helen Glynn, Joyce McAdam, Judy (?) Binner and Avis Dean.
Marjorie Taylor’s pantomime scripts were used regularly by the Carleton group and others in the middle decades of the last century.
