PLANS to build new shops in Bingley have been submitted to Bradford Council.
The two units would be built in the gap between a row of businesses including a barbers, fish and chip shop, bakery and a newsagent, on Park Road, opposite the former Bingley First School.
The new shops, with a combined floor space of 190 square metres, would match the design of the other units, and include a storage space underneath.
The area is currently occupied by a temporary site cabin.
The planning application, submitted by Bryn Rushbrooke, says: "The proposed units will bring employment to the site, with potentially four permanent jobs to the retail spaces and one job to the storage space.
"It must be stressed that this scheme is a speculative development and no tenants have been secured yet.
"The small size of the units will encourage independent retailers which bring a diversity to the high street over what the multinational business’, so common to the high street, bring."
A decision on the planning application will be made in December.
