ORGANISATIONS across the region have been named as finalists in the Sustainable Health and Care Awards.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is named in the Travel and Logistics category, while Mike Gent, Deputy Director Health Protection, Public Health England, Yorkshire and the Humber is in the running to be named Sustainable Healthcare Leader of the Year.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a finalist in the Care and Clinical Practice category.

The Sustainable Health and Care Awards highlight and celebrate the outstanding sustainable practices making real benefits to health and the environment such as cutting carbon, air pollution and promoting green space.

Danny Mortimer, chief executive of NHS Employers, said: “To secure a lasting, thriving NHS, sustainability is more important than ever.

“These awards are a great opportunity for organisations to be recognised for all the hard work they do towards creating a greener, more sustainable health and care system.

“I’d like to congratulate all of the finalists and thank them for their work in making the health system a more sustainable place.”

The ceremony will take place on November 21 this year at Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham, following the Sustainable Health and Care Forum.
