OPTICIANS in Bradford have taken part in a region-wide virtual relay race to raise money for two charities.
Fourteen Specsavers stores across North and West Yorkshire, including Bradford, Idle, Keighley, Skipton, Ilkley and Otley took part in the day, which saw colleagues set off from their own store to travel to a dedicated partner – covering over 130 miles.
The manager decided on their method of travel, and could be anything from walking and cycling to three-legged racing or skateboarding.
An total of £3,750 was raised on the day, with the money split between the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Pete Rooke, store director at Specsavers in Girlington and Darley Street, said: "In Yorkshire, we love to think of innovative and unique ways to raise money for charity. We also love to do fundraising collaboratively – the Yorkshire Fun Day was a fantastic way to do both.
"It was exciting to see all of the different ways stores travelled between Specsavers locations."
