PLANS to introduce new traffic regulation to a series of roads in Baildon will be discussed by councillors tomorrow.

In July Bradford Council announced the changes as a way to address “The lack of sufficient on-street parking in Baildon village.”

The changes include adding short stay parking restrictions to sections of number of roads, including Perseverance Street and part of West Lane.

There will also be double yellow lines added to a number of junctions, including the junction of St James Road and Centenary Road, and certain resident’s only parking areas.

Twenty-one people have objected to the proposed changes, mainly raising concerns about where they would park, and the Council’s Shipley Area Committee will decide whether to go ahead with them at a meeting tomorrow.

A report going to the committee suggests that the changes should go ahead, despite the objections.

It adds: "The lack of sufficient on-street parking in Baildon village has been an issue for many years. Numerous concerns have been expressed by local businesses and residents regarding the problem of on-street parking facilities within the village for shoppers, and long-stay commuter parking problems experienced by local residents.

"The proposed short-stay parking restrictions in Baildon Village and its immediate surroundings have been introduced to address long-stay parking problems and meet the needs of shoppers and visitors, thereby contributing to the benefit of the local economy."

The Committee will meet in Bingley Town Hall at 6pm.
