HOMEBUILDERS Barratt Developments have reported a 9% increase in profits over the past year.

Profits before tax rose from £765.1 million to £835.5 million in the year to June 30, 2018, as overall revenue increased by 4.8% from £4,650m to £4,874m.

Ian Ruthven, managing director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, said: “Barratt Developments has had another outstanding year, with strong regional demand for our homes across South and West Yorkshire. As Yorkshire’s, and indeed the UK’s, largest housebuilder we are actively helping to address the country’s housing shortage – creating jobs and supporting economic growth whilst continuing to lead the industry in quality and customer service.

“Overall the group has delivered a strong operational and financial performance, as well as our highest volumes in a decade. We start our new trading year in a good position, with a number of popular developments such as Ashmeade Park in Pontefract and St Andrew’s View in Leeds welcoming many new residents, and exciting new sites underway including Saxon Dene in Keighley, Castle Vale in Barnsley and Elderwood in Sheffield.”
