A CLECKHEATON pub has received the CAMRA pub of the season award from its local branch.
Andy Kassube, chairman of the Heavy Woollen CAMRA branch, presented the award to The New Packhorse after the pub had been nominated a number of times.
Owner Adam Darnbrough and manager Sarah Ineson accepted the award.
Mr Kassube said that the fact that the thriving pub had been nominated yet again, was “testimony to the consistency of the way this pub is run and after seven years of hard work”.
He added: “The pub constantly serves over five superbly kept real ales at any time and Adam is delighted that the consistency of his product is recognised.”
Mr Darnbrough admitted that winning the award was a shock and he thanked his staff for their support and in addition thanked his locals for their support over such a long period.
Mr Kassube added that the pub was continuing to prosper and that the modern interior provided a stylish setting which judging by the mix of customers, attracted both young and old.
