MILITARY veterans met up at a new breakfast club in a Bradford pub.

Monthly sessions have been launched at Turls Green Wetherspoons pub in Centenary Square, giving people who served in the forces chance to meet up and share experiences.

The meetings are organised by Brian Percival, Age UK Bradford and District’s Veterans and Group Support Officer, who said: "For many veterans, their years in service are very important to them but they don’t get the opportunity to speak to people with similar experiences.

"This was Bradford’s first veterans breakfast club - it’s a social event, on the last Thursday of each month, for people with a common interest of having served in the military.”

Among the veterans attending the first session were Stanley Green, an RAF radio operator on bombers in the Second World War, and Ken Waddington, a post-war ordnance officer. They are pictured chatting to Audrey Hepworth.

* The next Bradford Veterans Breakfast Club is at Turls Green, Centenary Square, on Thursday, September 27 from 10am to 12noon.
