FORMER Leeds College of Music prize-winner Jenny Smith and reeds player Tony Denton are the guest artistes at Undercliffe Cricket Club's weekly jazz session tomorrow[Wednesday] (9pm).

Jenny, originally from Hull, moved to Leeds in 2003 to take a BA in jazz studies and was awarded the college's prize for singing jazz and popular style in 2006.

A talented and versatile vocalist who has performed at Intake Road before, she is currently performing all over the UK with a rich variety of ensembles, including the Jenny Smith Quartet, all-girl a'cappella group Solaris, Al Morrison's Blues Experience and Georgian folk choir Samzeo.

Her credits include touring with theatre show Swing Fever, backing vocals for Julia Roberts and Marisa Turner and lead vocals with the Al Wood Swing Band, and in 2009 the Jenny Smith Quartet's debut album Love Holds Strong was released to great acclaim.

Tony, who has been on the local circuit for more years than he cares to remember, is a reeds player who is equally at home playing traditional jazz or modern jazz and returns to Undercliffe having beaten a serious illness.

Admission is free.
