“A better line-up than Leeds Festival” was how one fan described the music on offer at this year’s Bingley Music Live.

Families, couples and friends of all ages come from far and wide to see an variety of bands on two stages over three days.

The second day of music saw former Spice Girl Mel C entertain the crowds on the main stage, with Rat Boy, Evana and Jonny Rotten’s Public Image Ltd gracing the Myrtle Park stage throughout the day.

Thousands of fans lapped up the sunshine in the glorious surroundings of Myrtle Park and its beautiful countryside scenery.

Simon Barratt and his wife, Sarah, from Bingley, had walked to the festival from their house nearby, and both agreed this year’s line-up topped that of Leeds Festival, which took place last weekend.

“I sold my tickets for Leeds because this is a better line-up,” said Mr Barratt.

“There’s so much more choice here.

“We loved Gomez on Friday night and Jake Bugg.  Tomorrow night is going to fantastic as well.”

The couple were with their daughter and a friend who had travelled from Windsor.

Another couple, Martin and Pippa Grinley, made a five-hour trip from Bedford to be at the festival.

Mr Grinley said: “We started coming about five or six years ago and thought it was a nice little festival.

“We have been coming ever since.

“People in the north are so much friendlier than in the south.

“Everywhere you go you can talk to people here, but you don’t get that down south.”

Carol Knaggs, from York, came to the festival with her sister, who lives in Shipley.

She added: “I always come with my sister and we have been here for the last couple of years.

“It’s a nice mix of people and a good atmosphere.

“Last year I was here for the Kaiser Chiefs, but this year I don’t mind who I see.

“I just want to see some new bands, but I’m happy to see old ones as well.”

Councillor Zafar Ali, Lord Mayor of Bradford, said: “It’s a fantastic event.

“It brings families here, teenagers and their parents.

“People are coming here and looking refreshed, and the sun is shining.  It’s a great day.

“It’s a family weekend and the artists are very good, and you can see the audience is very responsive to it.

“It’s good for Bingley as well.  The community is coming together and something like this brings people out.”
