BRADFORD’S place in Civil War history will be discussed at a historic venue linked to the war later this month.
Bolling Hall will host a free talk by historian Malcolm Hanson, titled The Bradford Civil War Siege Story, on Sunday September 16 at 2pm.
During the Civil War the household supported the Royalist cause, and the house provided a stronghold during the siege of Bradford.
The building is one of the oldest in Bradford, decorated in period style, and even has its own Civil War ghost story, with a woman in white appeared to the Earl of Newcastle urging him to “pity Poor Bradford” and convincing him not to launch a murderous siege on the city.
It is one of a number of talks Mr Hanson will hold in different venues in the coming months.
