FESTIVAL-GOERS are promised a treat at this year’s Fallfest following the refurbishment of its regular venue.

The main entrance and auditorium of Glusburn Institute have been redecorated in time for the annual festival of arts and entertainment.

Festival director Sue Ingham said: “Family firm Sowerbutts of Cross Hills after a terrific job resulting a fresh new look for the Institute.”

The annual festival, based in and around Glusburn Institute Arts and Community Centre, will run from Friday to Sunday, September 21 to 23.

Fallfest organisers are promising a fantastic array of events, offering something for everyone.

The flagship event of the weekend is David Live, a “mind-blowing” September 22 tribute to David Bowie, the singer behind Space Oddity and Ziggy Stardust.

On the Friday seven South Craven primary schools are taking part in the first Great Fallfest Sing Off, performing Bowie’s Space Oddity.

The schools are also making four-foot rockets for a Rocket Trail Walk around Cross Hills and Glusburn, and competing in a 1.5-mile cross-country race.

The Fallfest Beer and Gin Fest will run throughout the weekend, and there will also be an open mic session for singers, poets and comedians.

Falling Stars Theatre Company will perform the hilarious and thought-provoking play The Last Resort, following a day in the life of a seaside resort, on the Friday evening and Sunday afternoon.

Saturday is family day with an adults’ fell race, yoga, Funky Flower workshop, street food, dog show and Junior Bake-Off.
