WORK to demolish a fire-ravaged structure at a waste management firm’s Bradford premises is continuing.

Earlier this month, a severe blaze ripped through buildings at Associated Waste Management, in Canal Road.

The firm has been forced to halt operations at the Bradford depot and had re-deployed staff to locations outside the city following the fire.

At its height, the fire was tackled by the crews of 15 fire engines from across the brigade.

An onlooker, speaking of the progress on the demolition, said: “They have started at the back corner closest to the railway and have simply chopped the building in half, with the previous metal-clad building now being half the size it used to be.”

Speaking previously, Business Development Director Tim Shapcott said: “AWM sustained a catastrophic fire at Canal Road Materials Reclamation Facility, resulting in a total loss of the facilities and site buildings.

“AWM are working with multiple stakeholders to ensure any future disruption is kept to a minimum.”
