VISITOR numbers to attractions in the region are growing faster than anywhere else in the country, research has revealed.
VisitEngland’s annual attractions survey shows that Yorkshire venues experienced a seven per cent increase in numbers last year.
There was also a nine per cent rise in local/day trip visitors and a seven per cent surge in spending at paid attractions. Sir Gary Verity (pictured), chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said the figures were “magnificent news”. He said: “Through events like the Tour de Yorkshire which have showcased the county on a global scale, as well as high-profile national marketing campaigns, it’s great to see everyone’s hard work paying off.”
