A CARE home rated inadequate and placed in special measures has taken steps to improve.

Willow Bank Care Home, on Bell Dean Road, Bradford, is now rated as ‘requires improvement’ following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The health watchdog made two unannounced visits in May and June.

A report said: “The purpose of this inspection was to ensure people were safe and to see if significant improvements had been made since the last inspection to the quality of the service currently being provided for people.

“During this inspection the service demonstrated to us improvements have been made and are no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is now out of special measures.”

However, Willow Bank was still found to be in breach of three regulations.

“During this inspection, we identified a continuing breach of regulations related to dignity and respect, nutrition and hydration and good governance,” the report said.

“We found the previous breaches to regulation relating to person centred care, safe care and treatment and fit and proper persons employed, had been addressed.”

In the previous inspection, the home was rated as inadequate in the safety and leadership markers, ratings which have now been upgraded to requires improvement, as well as the overall rating of the home.

Commenting on the inspection report, director Stephen Walkden told the Telegraph & Argus: "We are pleased with the improvement that has been recognised by the CQC and will continue to work with them to sustain this.

"We are also really pleased that all three homes in the company received over 96 per cent at recent infection control inspections and all three homes have five-star ratings from Environmental Health.

"We would like to thank staff, residents and visitors for their continued support."
