POLICE in Birstall have seized three nuisance bikes which have been ridden in the area in an anti-social manner.

The man responsible faces being evicted from his house in the town if he continues to ride bikes in an anti-social manner.

PCSOs Sandra Beaumont and Dale Liversedge spotted the bike being ridden by a man known to police along Low Lane, Leylands Road and Cambridge Road in Birstall yesterday.

The located the bike at a house in Cambridge Road along with two other bikes, and colleagues seized the three bikes. The man was also issued with a ticket for riding without insurance and a Section 59 warning.

He will also receive an anti-social behaviour warning. The bikes seized match the descriptions given to police by members of the public about bikes causing problems in Birstall town centre, Fieldhead and Howden Clough.

Police added they will be working with Kirklees Housing, and any tenants found to be riding bikes in an anti-social manner can be issued with a tenancy warning notice, and could be evicted from their property.

They are asking anyone who spots nuisance bikes to contact police with the following information: description of the bike; description of the rider; addresses where the bikes are being kept; any registration plate numbers; and if known, who is riding the bike.
