CITY Park will be transformed into a petrolhead's paradise tomorrow as the annual Bradford Classic returns for another year.

This year marks the event's 13th anniversary and it's hoped it will be "bigger and better" than ever.

A stunning display of cars from a variety of different eras will be on display.

It's the first time the event has been organised outside Bradford Council, instead being taken on by Classic Events (Bradford Ltd), which has been established to keep it running.

The cars will be on show in City Park and Centenary Square from 10am until 4pm, with additional vehicles displayed on Broadway and in the Broadway shopping centre.

In the shopping centre, visitors will be able to see a display of 1960s and 70s race and rally cars and service vehicles.

A Bradford 'Made Market' will also be held alongside the display in Centenary Square, while fun for younger visitors will include pedal car races for those under six years old in Centenary Square from 11am.

And a collection of rare archive pictures from the Bradford Museums and Galleries archive will be on display as part of the show.

Bradford Council's Museums and Galleries Service and Classic Events (Bradford) Ltd have raised funding to print and display 21 unique images that will go on display during the event.

The photographs show a range of Jowett models as well as factory photo’s showing engineers manufacturing components.

The pop up photographic gallery will be located in Sunbridge Wells during the show.

A number of films will also be shown as part of the show. The Love Bug will run in City Park at 1.30pm, while Ferrari: Race to Immortality, Williams and Cars 3 will be shown at The Light cinema. Visit bradford.lightcinemas.co.uk to book.

In another boost for the event, Bradford racing driver Andy 'Ace' Harrison will show some of his vehicles at the event.

Andy, 52, who owns Acespeed Historic Motorsport and Shipley MOT, will race at the prestigious invite-only Goodwood Revival festival next month.

There, he will be teamed up with motorsport legend Tony Jardine in the St Mary's Trophy - one of the most popular races of the weekend which sees pro/am drivers sharing some of the greatest saloon cars of the 1960s.

Andy, who lives in Idle, will be racing his pride and joy 1965 Morris Cooper S, which he has owned since he was 19.

Last year, he and his team completely stripped the car down to its bare shell, before rebuilding it as a race car with the Goodwood Revival in mind.

As is customary at the festival, Andy will be decked out in period costume and sponsored by SJL PrintMedia.

He said: "I'm excited and nervous. I want to do well.

"We're representing Bradford and it's a big thing for us and the local area."

He has taken part in the Goodwood Revival on three other occasions, but it will be the first time with the 1965 Morris Cooper S.

Andy has now been invited to meet with the Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Zafar Ali, in recognition.

He said: "I'm extremely proud to represent Bradford at the event. I want to do the city proud."

At the Bradford Classic, Andy and his team will be showing an Envoy Formula Junior race car, a Morris 1800 S rally car, a 72 Ace Austin Cooper S race car and, for the first time in Bradford, a 1964 Welsh International Rally winning Cooper S, formerly owned by racing star Whizzo.

They will all be in the Broadway shopping centre.

He is also sponsoring the under-6's pedal car race, which his grandson Elijah, five, will be taking part in.
