A BRADFORD woman attended a Buckingham Palace Garden Party in recognition of her work with feline friends over the past 45 years.
Brenda Satterley was invited to the event due to her lifelong exploits of rescuing, helping and re-homing cats across Bradford.
Allerton Cat Rescue is based in part of Mrs Satterley’s home, on Allerton Road, and it is through her own love and dedication that thousands of cats have been saved from misery over the years.
Rescuing her first cat at seven-years-old, Mrs Satterley homed 550 cats last year, including one cat that had been left alone in a wardrobe for three weeks and was found severely dehydrated with a new litter of kittens.
The recognition comes in part because the rescue has no funding and relies on donations with an annual vet bill of £50,000.
One of the volunteers at Mrs Satterley’s rescue centre said: “This is so well deserved and thank you for all you do for the cats. Brenda you are amazing.”
She attended Buckingham Palace with her husband.
