A MEETING will be held to discuss a problem beck which has been plagued by fires and anti-social behaviour.

Residents in Buttershaw and Shelf are being invited to talk about Blackshaw Beck, a natural green space on the border between Bradford and Calderdale.

The meeting will be held at St Michael's Church, Carr House Road, Shelf, from 7.30pm on Tuesday, August 14.

The fire service, police and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will meet with residents to look at the issues.

A community action day will then be held on Saturday, August 18, when volunteers will help to clean up the area. People are asked to meet at 10.30am at the Farfield Avenue entrance. Residents whose homes back onto the park will also be visited by council staff from both local authorities. Picture: Google Streetview

Councillor Abdul Jabar, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, said: “This is a lovely area and we know that residents are concerned about the way it has been misused by an anti-social minority.

“We want everyone to be able to enjoy Blackshaw Beck and value it for the future as an important community green space.”
