BRADFORD’S iconic Alhambra Theatre could soon get an upgrade as plans to install digital signs on the building have been revealed.

Bradford Council has submitted a planning application to replace the large signage on the roof of the listed building, and signage on its outside walls, with digital advertising boards promoting new shows.

The current sign on the roof, which faces onto Godwin Street and City Park, measures 11 metres by 2.5 metres.

The Council’s planning application says: “We are conscious of the historic and heritage importance of this building in the Bradford Landscape and we will continue to work with the Conservation Officer to ensure that both the casing of the proposed digital advertisement displays and their required fixings are approved prior to installation.”

A decision on the application will be made in early September.
