A NEW skin clinic could open in a long empty shop on one of Bradford's oldest streets.

A planning application to turn an empty unit on Ivegate (number 33) into a Skin HQ clinic with retail space has been submitted to Bradford Council by Dr Kanadi Jagafa.

The application says the business will create five full time and five part time jobs.

It adds: "They will be fully qualified up to NVQ level 3 and further trained in the treatment and retail products that we offer.

"The building has been vacant for a few years because of the lack of demand for stores within the city centre.

"The property will be sympathetically converted whilst respecting the existing building features at all times."

A decision on the application is expected early next month.

The unit has most recently been used as a temporary arts space.

Last year plans to turn the building into a takeaway, submitted by Amar Hussain, were refused by the council, with planning officers saying it would "reduce the attractiveness" of the shopping street.

Work to turn another empty unit on Ivegate, the former Toni and Guy salon, into a bar began last week.
