A CAREER burglar who broke into a Bradford house and stole £2,000 worth of ornaments and jewellery will not serve any extra time on top of his current five-year prison term.

Robert Dooley (pictured), 58, smashed a window to gain access to the property on Beck Hill on September 21 last year, also stealing a TV. His DNA was found on a hammer left at the scene. By the time the sample was traced to Dooley, he was already on remand after being convicted for other burglary matters committed in August and October, 2017.

Richard Walters, prosecuting, told Bradford Crown Court that Dooley, formerly of Collingham Avenue, Bradford, was a ‘third-strike’ burglar, to which Judge David Hatton QC replied: “He is about a 30-strike burglar.”

The judge told Dooley his 876-day sentence would run alongside his current jail term, telling him: “It’s time you packed it in you know.”
