A MAN spotted carrying a suspected handgun in Windhill over the weekend has been arrested and prosecuted by police.
Police were alerted by members of the public on Saturday afternoon to a man standing in a street off Festival Avenue, Windhill, carrying what looked like a handgun.
The man then drove away and the incident was reported.
In the early hours of Sunday, firearms police officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the male occupant, and recovered an air pistol which was designed to look like a gun.
West Yorkshire Police's Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team said the gun will be destroyed and the man has been prosecuted over the offence.
