TOM Kohler-Cadmore is targeting the complete performance from Yorkshire against Essex at Chelmsford in Thursday’s Royal London One-Day Cup eliminator clash.

The in-form opening batsman says the Vikings head into the fixture brimming with confidence as they bid to reach the semi-finals.

They won their last four North Group outings to finish third and qualify, but Kohler-Cadmore insists there is more to come.

“The last few games have been must-wins, so we’re in a good place leading into this match,” said the 23-year-old.

“We’ve been put under pressure, and we haven't really played our best cricket yet.

“If we can go and put a performance together with bat and ball and hold our catches, then we’ll be challenging any side in this competition.

“We look forward to going down to Essex and silencing their crowd.

“They’re a good side and have earned the right for a home tie. If we play anything like our best, they’ll have to play very well to beat us.”

Given the absence of Yorkshire’s internationals, Kohler-Cadmore will be crucial to their hopes of success at Essex.

He has scored 451 competition runs from seven innings with a hundred and three fifties, earning him a maiden call-up to the England Lions squad for the forthcoming one-day tri-series with India A and West Indies A.

He continued: “You can’t sit in the changing room, look around and say ‘What have we got, who have we got?’.

“If we sit there and sulk and think ‘Last game we had Rashid’, it won’t do us any favours.

“The reason why Yorkshire have such a big squad is for times like this.

“There’s not going to be one person in that dressing room who will be doubting themselves. We’re all there to contribute and win games for Yorkshire, and we’ll be going all out to do so.”

Kohler-Cadmore’s opening partner Adam Lyth has also been in fine form with 401 runs from seven innings. The pair have shared partnerships of 80, 80, 72, 153, 43, 12 and 14.

“I felt last year we had quite a good understanding in the T20s,” he said. “It seemed to work well then.

“This year, it helps that we’ve both scored runs and helps the middle order coming in on the back of that. (Che) Pujara has also gone brilliantly for us.

“When you have a couple of good early stands, it takes all the pressure off the middle order. You can then get 10-15 runs an over at the death with wickets in hand.

“But Lythy’s played beautifully, especially against Lancashire. That hundred came at a key time for us.”

And returning to discussions regarding his own form, Kohler-Cadmore added: “When I play well, I seem to hit purple patches and score a lot of runs in a short space of time. But then I slow down. That’s something I’m working on.

“I know every time I bat, I’ve got to stay hungry, try and get as many as I can and play the role the team needs in a certain situation. Even my last two games when I got low scores, I’m happy with the way I’ve approached things.

“I just want to score as many runs as I can and get us to a Lord’s final.”

England Test opener Alastair Cook is in contention for Essex.
