A 69-YEAR-OLD man who has “significant mental health problems” has been handed a 12-month suspended jail sentence after breaching a restraining order three times.

George Armstrong, of Langley Lane, Baildon, was warned that he would be jailed if he contacted the woman again.

Prosecutor Daniel Lee told Bradford Crown Court that Armstrong had encountered the woman at Leeds train station on April 24 and had approached her. Then on May 10 he saw her in Leeds city centre and called out to her.

Both times, the woman called for police assistance.

Mr Lee added that she noticed Armstrong walking towards her at Leeds train station again the following day.

The restraining order was imposed following a 2014 conviction of stalking the woman after meeting her at church.

He has previously breached the order and been given conditional discharges.

Alistair Bateman for Armstrong said he had encountered the woman by chance on the first two occasions as he often rides the trains.
