NEW research has revealed that Bradford has the third cheapest city centre parking in the UK.

The study, carried out by Citybase Apartments, found Bradford's on-street parking is 63 per cent cheaper than the UK average.

On-street parking in Bradford costs just 60p per hour, while the average hourly cost in a car park in the city centre is 50p, 54 per cent cheaper than the national average.

Bradford ranks behind only Salford and the Northern Irish city of Newry in the list, which sit joint top of the table.

Neighbouring city Leeds is in stark contrast to Bradford, with the fourth most expensive car parking in the country, priced at £1.50 an hour in a car park and £2.60 on-street.

The City of London is the most expensive, at £3 in a car park and £4.80 on-street.

Elsewhere in Yorkshire, Wakefield comes in as the 12th cheapest city, Ripon sits 20th, Sheffield is ranked 24th, York is placed 26th, and Hull came 37th.

The average cost for parking in a car park across the country is £1.10, and on-street parking is £1.65.
