COMMUNITIES are getting together with a host of events in memory of the late Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox.

The second Run for Jo, a key element of the national celebration of The Great Get Together organised by More in Common celebrating the diversity of communities and continuing Jo's work in the area, takes place at Oakwell Hall in Birstall on Sunday June 24.

Other events planned as part of the The Great Get Together weekend running from June 22 to June 24 include testing your skills in the Puzzletastic event at Birstall Library, Market Street, from 10.30am until 12.30pm on Friday June 22.

On Saturday June 23 there is a Cake and Make at Mirfield Library, Huddersfield Road, Mirfield, from 10am until 12.30pm. There will be activities and entertainment at Green Park, Heckmondwike, and a BBQ and party from 1 until 3pm in Cleckheaton Memorial Gardens, Cleckheaton.

Also on Saturday Streetbikes are hosting a picnic and community ride from 9.15 until 11.30am at Spenborough running track, Liversedge. There will be the opportunity to join in the mixed ability cycling from 12.30 until 3pm. And The Great Sausage Roll eating event runs from 1.30 until 4pm at Howden Clough Community Centre, Birstall.
