A MEMORIAL bench commemorating a local ward councillor will be dedicated this weekend.
The bench, in memory of Councillor Lynne Smith, will be dedicated in Wibsey Park on Sunday (May 27) during a fun day organised by the Friends of Wibsey Park.
Councillor Smith represented Wibsey for ten years until her death from cancer two years ago.
During that time she worked with residents to try and improve the park and supported efforts of the previous Friends group to create a recreation space for all local residents.
Councillor Ralph Berry (Lab, Wibsey) said: “ Lynne loved the Park and the people of Wibsey who cherished it.
"It is only fitting that he hard work and dedication should be honoured in this way in a park she worked so hard to improve.”
His fellow Labour ward councillor David Green added: “ Lynne worked hard to bring the park back to life and her legacy lives on through the Friends of Wibsey Park."
