A BEER festival and a 40s evening are being organised by Aireborough Rotary to raise funds for local causes.

The second Great Aireborough Beer Festival will take place at Guiseley Theatre on June 15 and 16 from 12 noon to 11pm each day.

Aireborough Rotary Secretary Robert Mirfield said: "Following the success of last year’s event which brought together for the first time as partners Rawdon St. Peter’s Parish Church, Guiseley Theatre and the Rotary Club of Aireborough – 'We’re for Communities' - a dedicated committee has worked diligently to ensure that this year’s second time around Festival will be even better."

He added: "This is first and foremost a charity fundraiser and last year meant that £3000 was shared between the three groups to support the diverse activities they support within the community."

Once again the event will feature more than 40 beers to savour, mainly from micro breweries throughout the UK, complemented by a selection of ciders and Prosecco alongside a variety of hot refreshments. Each evening will also feature performances from local bands.

To support the fundraiser by sponsoring a barrel of beer or advertising in the programme email aireboroughbeerfestival@btinternet.com. Visit aireboroughbeerfestival.com for further details.

On Friday, June 8 Aireborough Rotary is inviting the public to step back in time to enjoy the entertainment, dancing and food of the forties.

Dressing up in the styles of the era is optional. Entertainment will be presented by the Northern 40’s and vocalist Emma Jones. The two course meal will include garden produce of the era - with no need for ration books. Special dietary requirements should be specified in advance.

The event will take place at Horsforth Golf Club from 6.30pm to 7pm. Tickets cost £17 per head and can be booked through Barry Bootland on 01943 874133 or at barry.bootland@btinternet.com.
