We asked all parties fielding five or more candidates for a statement on their priorities if elected. This is an election message from Ukip.

UKIP believes that the priority of the council should be to look after its residents, however this is far from what the current councillors are doing.
We see cuts to social care of £8 million, children’s services cut by £3 million, road maintenance and street cleaning significantly cut back yet we’re all being asked to pay 5.99 per cent more in Council Tax. Your Labour councillors are taking more from us but delivering us less service.
Instead of funding the vital services in Bradford, the council spends millions on the city centre and vanity projects, while areas outside are forgotten about. They put in a bid for a £29 million bicycle route to Leeds, £4 million for a car park in the centre, spent £7,000 on refurbishing the council leader’s office and let’s not forget the ongoing saga of the Odeon building. It’s time to hold these decisions to account.
The council has predicted 42,000 new homes will be needed in the next 12 years and we are already seeing many of our green areas disappearing to big housing developments without the infrastructure and services to cope. This can’t go on.
The Conservative Government is planning to cut Bradford’s funding to zero by 2020, which means the council will have to make tough decisions about how to spend your money. However, where and how these cuts fall are decided by your Labour councillors. They are the ones proposing and voting through these damaging cuts while wasting money in the city centre, when will they take responsibility?
If you think the council wastes your money on city centre projects while your area is left behind, that we need to protect our precious green spaces, that the cuts to vital frontline services are wrong, that Council Tax increases make it more difficult for ordinary people, then don’t let Bradford Council off the hook this year and take your chance to tell them what you really think by voting UKIP on Thursday, May 3.
