A BRADFORD artist and children’s author has donated a number of books to the district’s children’s homes.

Simone Malik donated copies of Themes of Life, a child-focused book she has recently written and illustrated, that deals with issues facing children today including bullying and grooming.

She presented the books at an event at Margaret McMillan towers on Monday. One copy was given to each of the district's eight children's homes, and a further 12 were given to nominated children in the homes.

The donation was sponsored by Bradford jewellers Mangala.

Miss Malik got the chance to speak to some of the children in care at the event, and said it was one of the "best experiences" she has had.

She said: "It was amazing speaking with the young people. They were telling me what they wanted to do with their lives, which was really inspiring."
