RIDERS from a Haworth group won a clutch of medals at a Special Olympics in Derbyshire.
The Haworth Riding for the Disabled (RDA) contingent together took six gold medals, four silvers and two bronze, as well as securing three fourth-spots.
They were competing at the Scropton Special Olympics.
Amongst the riders was nine-year-old Sophie Wade, who – on her own pony, Pickles – secured a silver medal in her first contest.
Jackie Butterfield, founder of Haworth RDA, said she was hugely proud of all the riders – and horses.
"Captain Jack Sparrow and Wisp were superb and performed really well after their three-hour journey in the horsebox down to Derbyshire," she said.
"Everyone had a great time and did so well.
"They are now looking forward to an event in September at Parklands Equestrian Centre in Sheffield."
