A BURGLARY attempt at a supermarket was foiled when a "smoke cloak" was deployed.
Police and fire services were called to the Tesco Express on Otley Road, Undercliffe, at 3.53am today following reports the device, which deploys a large amount of fog in the event of a break in, had been set off.
Police found that a window of the supermarket had been damaged, but it did not appear that anything had been taken.
It is thought the break in attempt happened between 3.38am and 3.45am, and police enquiries are continuing.
Anyone who witnessed the incident has been asked to contact police on 101 quoting crime reference number 13180186250 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
