A CAR wash at Stanningley Fire Station raised £513 for the Fire Fighters Charity.
On Saturday, 12 firefighters were on hand with hoses and sponges between 10am and 2pm to spruce up residents’ cars.
One visitor was Wendy Wolstenholme (pictured) whose husband in a retired firefighter who spent part of his 30-year career in Pudsey.
Mrs Wolstenholme is currently receiving treatment for breast cancer and when it is completed is going to enjoy a week’s recuperation at the Fire Fighters Charity Jubilee House, in Penrith.
As well as ongoing fundraising firefighters can contribute a percentage of their salary and pension to the charity.
The charity offers rehabilitation, physio, trauma/psychological therapies and recuperation to members of the fire service, including family members in certain circumstances.
