ICON of British music Noel Gallagher has been announced as this year’s “game-changing” headline act at Bingley Music Live.

The former Oasis star will bring his current band, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, to Bingley’s main stage later this year.

Gallagher’s band has achieved three UK number one albums, and a number of Top 40 hits, such as The Death of You and Me, AKA... What a Life and Holy Mountain.

Along with High Flying Birds’ material, Gallagher is also sure to delve into his extensive Oasis back catalogue to bring some of the most iconic songs of the last 30 years to Bingley.

Noel, alongside his brother Liam, shot to fame with Oasis in 1994 with their debut album Definitely Maybe, and were one of the UK’s most successful bands of all time until a rift between the brothers caused the band split up in 2009.

Two other headline acts have also been announced for the festival, now into its 12th year.

Nottingham rocker Jake Bugg will take to the stage, bringing a mix of punchy rock’n’roll anthems sure to get the crowd jumping, along with a number of more bluesy tracks from his four studio albums.

Aged just 24, Bugg has already played on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage after bursting onto the music scene aged just 17, and previously played Bingley Music Live in 2012.

He is joined at the top of the bill by Britpop favourites Shed Seven, who played in front of sell-out crowds during their return tour in 2017.

Bingley’s very own Marmozets will also be performing one of their signature high-octane live shows at the festival, following the release of their second album earlier this year.

Other acts who have also been announced for the festival include indie-veterans The Cribs, who last year released their eighth album and are a cult favourite among indie music fans.

Ride, who started out in the 1980s before returning to the airwaves last year, will also be performing, and former Sex Pistol John Lydon is bringing his post-punk project Public Image Ltd to the festival.

Essex-born artist Ratboy – who supported Noel Gallagher’s brother Liam on his arena tour last year – will also be performing, along with indie rockers Peace and 1998 Mercury Prize winners Gomez.

Many more acts will be announced by festival organisers on Thursday, April 26.
