FLY-TIPPING dumped in an area of Bradford has been blasted by a ward councillor as “the worst I have ever seen”.

Around 100 metres of road leading up to the former Dales care home, in Woodhall Road, off Gain Lane, has been filled with six or seven separate tipper loads of waste.

The loads range from building rubble and materials to domestic waste, mattresses, sofas, carpets, clothing, toys, tiles, plasterboard and wood.

The fly-tipping began two weeks ago and at one time blocked the access to the care home.

Mohammed Khan, who is staying at the care home as security said: “This is mindless tipping. I have had to try and move some of the rubbish so I can get past in my car.

“For two days I was unable to get the car through and parked in a street nearby and got two parking tickets because I hadn’t realised it was residents’ only parking.

“I have a guard dog with me and it meant I had to walk a long way with heavy dog food, simply because despicable people like this had tipped waste on the road.

“There is no other entrance to the property. Children with their parents and dog walkers use this road and it is not a nice sight for them to see. Whoever has done it needs to be prosecuted.”

Mr Khan obtained video footage of a white tipper truck dumping rubbish near the entrance to the road on Friday last week and this has been passed to the Council with a view to finding the culprits so a prosecution can be brought.

He contacted ward councillor Mohammed Shafiq who said he was disgusted at the mess.

“This is the worst case of flytipping I have seen in this area. There are several lorry loads and the rubbish is a mixture of all sorts of things. It is disgusting that people have done this to avoid taking it to a recycling centre. It has made a real eyesore and health hazard and has spread and blown all around.

“I have reported the matter to the police because there has been criminal damage to a gate across the road which the flytippers did to get in.

“I have spoken to the council who say the road is adopted and they will try and identify where it has come from.”

Salim Akhtar, owner of the former care home and who also owns Jinnah restaurant, said: “This is not the first time flytipping has occurred here. It happened around a year ago and I paid £385 for two skips. There is a lot more this time.

“I am going to ask the Council to install CCTV at the Gain Lane end to deter further tipping.

“This activity is getting worse around Bradford and it is despicable.”
