A BRADFORD school thanked one of its longstanding governors, who has retired after a lifetime of public service to Bradford schools.
Immanuel College said farewell to Keith Vickerman, who has served is schools in Bradford, Shipley and London. Over 50 years ago, he was part of the Shipley Education Executive under the West Riding Education Committee. After moving round the country for work he returned to Shipley 30 years later. He joined Immanuel as a governor in 2001.
The school held a celebration event for him this week, praising his “dedication and hard work.”.
Denise Sterling Chair of Governors, said: “Keith is very modest and underplays the significant contribution he has made to school governance.
"He has been an active governor for over 46 years with 28 of those in Bradford schools. He joined Immanuel in 2001 and has been constant in his support of the school. He has had a clear and passionate commitment to wanting the very best education and opportunities for all students. We will miss him very much and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Head Jane Tiller said: “We are very grateful for Keith’s dedication and hard work in the service of Immanuel College as a Governor. He has always been very committed and supportive of the school and its students.”
