A TEAM from a Bradford school will compete against schools across the country in a science and engineering themed competition.

Three teams from Hanson School competed in the F1 in Schools Regional final in York last month winning four awards with one, Team Entity, winning the Best Team Identity and Third Place Winners overall.

Team Entity now go through to the national finals at Silverstone Race Circuit on Monday where they will compete against schools from England to become national champions with a spot to compete at the world finals in September at Singapore’s F1 Marina Bay circuit.

F1 in Schools is a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) competition in which groups of students have to design and manufacture a miniature “car” out of the official F1 Model Block using design tools. They also have to produce a pit display of their work along with branding strategies.

The project was founded by Andrew Denford, CEO of Denford Ltd in Brighouse, which provides CAD/CAM solutions and projects for education. The main objective is to change the perceptions of science, technology, engineering and maths by creating a fun and exciting learning environment.

The team is in need of sponsorship both financial and technical to help them with their endeavour. Any company interested in sponsoring the team can email s.clemmett@hansonacademy.org.uk.
