PLANS for a large new digital sign at the Broadway have been refused by Bradford Council.
The application would have seen a digital LED advertising sign, measuring six metres by four metres, put up on the corner in between the new The Light cinema and the Broadway entrance.
The applicants said in a supporting statement that the sign would not be "incongruous or out of scale in its surroundings or harm the particular qualities of this part of the urban environment".
However, Council planning officer Richard Holliday rejected the proposals, saying it was "unacceptable".
He said: "The proposed digital display would result in significant harm to the design, character, and appearance of the site and wider street scene, thereby harmful to visual amenity.
The combined visual impact of the digital display due to its excessive size, illumination, prominent elevated position, and visual clutter, is therefore unacceptable."
