RESIDENTS have spoken of their fury after 4x4 vehicles churned up grass across their estate.

These pictures show damage on Boltby Lane, Buttershaw, but the culprits have also unleashed havoc on grassy areas at Bellerby Brow, Reevy Road West, Strensall Green and Brafferton Arbor.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said a number of streets were hit last night, but it has been an ongoing problem.

He said: "Why? What is going on? Three years ago, they did the same thing to the same field and it cost £10,000."

He urged people to report incidents like this one to the police so action can be taken.

Councillor Angela Tait (Lab, Royds) said: "It is an issue. They seem to think it's entertaining to do doughnuts on the grass in the snow.

"It's the implications of the damage - it just creates a complete mess.

"It's in other areas of the ward as well."

Cllr Tait said the Council put barriers up at Brafferton Arbor to stop it from happening, but they had been taken down.

She added: "The people who are doing it don't realise the implications. They just see it as busybodies spoiling their fun.

"It's not just a bit of fun, it's not for their own private use, it's a public area and I would just appeal to them to show a bit more respect and look after it and not damage it."

Nuisance vehcles can be reported to West Yorkshire Police’s Bradford Quad Squad by email at bdasbbiketeam@west yorkshire.pnn.police.uk or by calling police on 101.
