FAMILY and friends of injured Thackley AFC footballer Jamie Underdown turned out in bitter weather conditions yesterday to support a fundraising football match to help his recuperation.
Mr Underdown, pictured below, left, and with his family, top left, who plays on the wing, suffered an horrendous knee injury while playing against Hemsworth Miners Welfare three months ago.
Phil Virco organised the tournament at SportZone Bradford, in Thornbury.
The money will boost a £5,000 goal to help buy items to help Mr Underdown live more independently and get access to intense physio sessions.
Teams taking part in the knockout were Bobble Hat Bob FC, Sunbridge Wells, Sportzone, Athletico Pathetico and teams A and B from Leeds Adult Transport.
The final saw Bobble Hat Bob FC win 6-2 against Leeds Adult Transport B.
Mr Underdown said: “It was great to see my friends playing in the match. I would have loved to played with them. I had a knee reconstruction operation on Friday and am still in agony.”
