A ROGUE trader has been ordered to pay more than £26,000 back to his victims within a month or face three more years behind bars.

Andrew Pollard, 37, of Longfield Road in Pudsey, traded as A&J Roofing Solutions Ltd, which was the most complained about roofing company in West Yorkshire in 2016.

Trading Standards received a number of complaints alleging seriously deficient workmanship and misleading representations.

Pollard previously pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court to ten offences under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations and was sentenced to 20 months in jail on July 10 2017.

Yesterday at Leeds Crown Court a confiscation order was made against Pollard for £26,472.86 - his total available assets - to be paid in compensation to his victims.

One of his victims was a 69-year-old who lost more than £12,000 for work which began as a job to fix a broken roof tile at a cost of £850 but which rapidly escalated. They will receive nearly £9,000 compensation.

West Yorkshire Trading Standards officers, working with police and social care professionals and supported by the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, worked hard to secure reimbursement for the victims.
