MEMBERS of Bradford Council’s Executive will next week be asked to endorse a new plan to boost the authority’s income.
A new report to the group recommends making “well-researched investments in income-generating assets”, alongside taking steps to grow income from Business Rates and Council Tax.
The Council has an annual rental income from property of £2.8 million and has recently begun to explore the prospect of larger acquisitions. The report wants the authority to set up a new advisory group to look after investments and financial growth planning, consisting of members of the ruling political group, opposition councillors, officers, and external advisors.
Council leader Susan Hinchcliffe (pictured) said: “The only way we can continue to provide vital services in the face of severe budget reductions is to try and raise money from all the other sources available to us.”
