THE body of a man was found at a junction on the M62 yesterday causing the slip road to be closed for more than four hours.

Police were called shortly after 2pm yesterday to Junction 25 for Brighouse on the M62 on the eastbound carriageway, following a concern for safety call.

An articulated skip wagon was found just before the exit slip road with the engine still running, and officers found the body of a man in his 40s on the embankment nearby.

He was treated by paramedics but pronounced dead at the scene, and his family have been informed.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may have been travelling along the M62 eastbound and saw an articulated skip wagon pulling up at the slip road, the driver exiting the vehicle, or who saw the vehicle travelling along the motorway prior to 11.25am.

Officers would also like to hear from any drivers travelling along the section of motorway with dashcams who may have captured the vehicle travelling or stationary.

The circumstances of the incident are still being determined, but at this time there is not believed to be any third party involvement.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Calderdale CID on 101 quoting log number 820 of Tuesday, January 2.
