TRADING Standards is warning people to be vigilant this Christmas as a number of scams have been brought to their attention.

The Safer team highlighted an email scam which is targeting Netflix subscribers in an attempt to gain personal information and payment details.

A spokesman from Trading Standards said the message tells customers that their billing details have been invalidated and asks them to click on a link.

Netflix members should not click the link and should instead access their accounts through the company's official website.

The organisation has also warned residents about a blue badge scam.

The con is run by websites which charge up to £50 for a disabled parking badge but it is free to apply through the official Government website, gov.uk/apply-blue-badge, and if successful, applicants will only need to pay £10 for their badge.

Trading Standards has also advised customers to beware of counterfeit goods, particularly hair tools such as straighteners and curlers, which may be dangerous to use.
