BUSINESSES and individuals from across the Bradford district have been shortlisted in a regional awards ceremony.

The Yorkshire Choice Awards recognise local people and independent businesses that are an inspiration in their field.

Named in the Businessman of the Year category are Daniel Mottram, Keil Nelson and Paul Corcoran.

Caroline Towers, from Bingley, Jackie Mulligan, of Bradford, Liz Colleran, of Cleckheaton, Lucy Thompson, from Keighley, Rachel Dilley, from Brighouse and Sandra Corcoran from Bradford are shortlisted in the Business Woman of the Year category.

It’s the Thought, Otley, and Bradford-based Pennine Cycles are shortlisted in the Customer Services Award category.

And in New Starter Business of the Year, CST Creative, Bingley, and ShopAppy, Saltaire, will go up against a host of other businesses to scoop the top award.

Named in the Independent Business of the Year category are Direct2Mum, Brighouse, Duvalay, Cleckheaton, Pennine Cycles in Bradford, ROKT Climbing Centre in Brighouse, The Wheatley Arms at Ben Rhydding, Voltage Sport in Bingley, Yorkshire Payments, Brighouse, and Full Circle Funerals, Guiseley.

BASH Local, Brighouse, Sapper Support of Cleckheaton and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance are named in the Charitable Business Award category.

Emma Powell, from Ilkley, is named in the Sporting Achievement of the Year category and the Young Achiever of the Year Category.

Harry Doyle, from Bradford, will also go up against Emma in that category.

Former Britain’s Got Talent star and Brighouse High School pupil Jack Carroll and Juno Dawson, from Bingley, are both named in the Media Personality of the Year section.

Juno Dawson is also up for the Kate Granger Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Kelly Williams, of Wibsey, is named in the Local Fundraiser of the Year section.

And the Inspirational Individual category includes Charlie Rawson, of Keighley, Norman Stephens, from Otley, Bradford’s Rais Hasan, Sam Boatwright from Skipton and Tim Evers, from Cleckheaton.

Lizzie Jones, wife of the late Keighley Cougars player Danny Jones, is also shortlisted in the Local Fundraiser of the Year and Inspirational Individual categories and is also up for the Kate Granger Award for Outstanding Achievement.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on April 13 next year.
