BUSINESS leaders in Bradford have been given the chance to grill three of the district’s MPs at an event.

Bradford West’s Naz Shah, Shipley’s Philip Davies and Keighley’s John Grogan will be guests at an MPs’ lunch.

The event will take place on Friday, January 12, between noon and 2.15pm, at the Midland Hotel, Forster Square, Cheapside.

The lunch has been organised by West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

Businesspeople from the district have been urged to attend and quiz their representatives on issues affecting them. It is hoped the three MPs will then raise these issues in Parliament.

It will also offer the chance to voice key concerns in the constituency areas, which include Bradford city centre.

Issues which may come under discussion at the session may include whether they are doing all they can to support the Northern Powerhouse campaign.

The three may also be asked if more could be done to support devolution for both West and North Yorkshire.

Brexit is also expected to come up for discussion at the event, and what it means for businesses in the Bradford district.

Mike Cartwright, of West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, encouraged business bosses to sign up and have their say.

He said: “Events like this allow businesses to ask questions directly to those representing the district in Parliament.

“At a time of continuing uncertainty we need to know that we can rely on our elected politicians to raise the relevant issues in the House of Commons and elsewhere.

“I encourage businesses to come along to hear what the MPs have to say, and to raise the issues of importance to them.”

Both Mr Grogan and Mr Davies have spoken at previous West & North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce meetings.

Mr Davies spoke at the chamber’s property forum in April this year and discussed his opposition to the land allocation plan for the district. He told the audience it was his duty to represent his constituents, who were opposed to any development of green belt land in Wharfedale.

Mr Grogan spoke at the group’s debate on the European Union Referendum last year, but this will be the first time that Ms Shah has spoken to members of the chamber.

To book a place, priced £30 for chamber members and £42 for non-members, email events@wnychamber.co.uk or call 01274 206660.
